Texans vs Dolphins NFL Week 7 Pick

An underachieving NFL team sometimes needs a major shakeup to turn the corner, whether it comes in the form of signing a free agent or making a key trade. In the case of Miami, it could be a coaching change that has turned the tide, and well find out more in Sundays Texans-Dolphins game.

CBS will regionally televise the Texans-Dolphins game at 1 p.m. Eastern Sunday from Sun Life Stadium in Miami. Its only the second home game of the season for Miami.

Both the Texans and Dolphins struggled to open the season, as they combined for a 2-7 record through five weeks. It has been an especially rough start to 2015 for Miami, which expected to ride the signing of a few key free agents in the offseason, including dominating defensive tackle Ndomukong Suh, to a fast start. Instead, Miami lost three straight games after a shaky Week 1 win at Washington. And after the Jets whipped Miami, 27-14, in London in Week 4, Miami fired Coach Joe Philbin before the teams Week 5 bye, naming Dan Campbell as interim head coach.

Under Campbell, Miami played easily its most complete game in Week 6, crushing the Titans on the road, 38-10, for its second win. It was the first time the Dolphins held a team below 23 points since Week 1. Defensive end Cameron Wake will be a player to watch in the Texans-Dolphins game, as he had four sacks against the Titans. Wake, who was expected to benefit greatly from the addition of Suh, didnt record a sack in any of Miamis first four games.

Houston also will enter the Texans-Dolphins game on the heels of its second win of the season, as the Texans won at Jacksonville, 31-20. It was the first road win of the season for the Texans. Houstons only other win this season was 19-9 at home against Tampa Bay.

Both the Texans and Dolphins recorded season highs in scoring offense in Week 6. Houstons 31-point outburst against Jacksonville is the only time this season the Texans have managed to score more than 21 points in a game. And Miamis 38 points against Tennessee easily surpassed its previous offensive high of 20 points in a Week 2 loss at Jacksonville.

Miami has never won a game in the Texans-Dolphins series, losing all seven contests dating back to 2003. Houston has won all three of its trips to Miami, including a 23-13 win in the most recent game in Miami in 2011.
