DATE – Sunday Dec. 27

TIME – 4:25 p.m. Eastern

TV – FOX

Both the Packers and Cardinals have already clinched playoff berths in the NFC with two weeks remaining in the season. However, seeding and home field advantage will be on the line in the contest between the two divisional leaders.

FOX will have a regional broadcast of the Green Bay-Arizona game at 4:25 p.m. Eastern Sunday from U of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Arizona clinched the NFC West Division title with its 40-17 win against Philadelphia last Sunday, moving to a 12-2 record. With a win in the Packers-Cardinals game, Arizona would clinch a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs. Arizona could also clinch the first-round bye with a home win against Seattle in Week 17.

At 10-4 the Packers hold a one-game lead in the NFC North Division over Minnesota. Those two rivals will play each other in Week 17. If Green Bay can win in the Packers-Cardinals game, it will stay alive in its hopes to clinch a first-round playoff berth. But with losses in their final two games, the Packers could end up as a Wild Card team.

Both Green Bay and Arizona will be playing to their strengths in Sunday’s match. The Packers have posted an impressive 5-2 record on the road this season. Only Arizona at 7-1 and Carolina at 7-0 have better road records in the NFC than Green Bay. But the Cardinals have been really strong at home, going 5-1. Only Carolina at 7-0 has a better home mark in the NFC.

Arizona has won eight straight games entering the Packers-Cardinals contest, including victories against playoff contenders Minnesota, Seattle, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia.

It has been a season of streaks for the Packers. Green Bay opened the season with a six-game win streak before dropping three in a row. After splitting its next two games, Green Bay will have a three-game win streak for the Packers-Cardinals game. Green Bay’s best wins this season have come at Minnesota and at home against Kansas City and Seattle.

The Packers have dominated the all-time Green Bay-Arizona series, leading 47-23-4. Green Bay has dominated of late as well, winning seven of the last nine. The first game was a 3-3 tie in 1921.
