TV – TNT

Outside of Golden State and San Antonio, two of the NBA’s hottest teams moving toward the mid-point of the 2015-16 NBA season have been the Clippers and Cavaliers, and those two teams will square off on TNT’s Thursday Night NBA double header.

TNT will televise the Clippers and Cavaliers from Cleveland at 8 p.m. Eastern as part of its Thursday Night NBA double header. The second game on TNT Thursday will be the Spurs and Suns from Phoenix.

Cleveland has ridden two win streaks of six or more games since the beginning of December to the top of the Eastern Conference standings as the NBA’s mid-season approaches. At one point in early December, the Cavaliers were only six games over .500. But by mid-January and heading into the Los Angeles-Cleveland game, the Cavs has been as many as 17 games over .500.

The Clippers were in an even worse position in late December, sitting only three games over .500. But Los Angeles put together a nine-game win streak to soar into the top four of the Western Conference.

Blake Griffin has led Los Angeles during its hot streak, averaging better than 23 points per game and almost nine rebounds. DeAndre Jordan has averaged better than 11 points and 13 boards for the Clippers, while Chris Paul is averaging more than nine assists per contest.

LeBron James will lead Cleveland into the Clippers-Cavaliers game, averaging just shy of 26 points per game with more than seven rebounds and six assists per contest. Kevin Love scores more than 16 points per game for Cleveland, while also recording nearly 11 boards per game.

Los Angeles and Cleveland will meet a second time March 13 in Los Angeles. Cleveland leads the all-time Clippers-Cavaliers series, 71-49, including a commanding 41-18 edge since the Clippers franchise moved to Los Angeles.

Cleveland swept both Clippers-Cavaliers games last season, winning 126-121 in Los Angeles and winning 105-94 in Cleveland. Kyrie Irving had 47 points for the Cavs in the two games against the LA Clippers last season. Irving missed the first one-third of the 2015-16 season with an injury, but since his return in December, he has been averaging nearly 16 points per game with almost four assists per game, while playing limited minutes as he returns to form. Cleveland’s strong play of late coincided with Irving’s return to the floor.
