With their hopes of winning an AFC North Division title fading quickly, Pittsburgh is in desperate need of a win in the Bengals-Steelers game in Week 8. And the Steelers are also probably in desperate need of getting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back in the starting lineup.

The Bengals and Steelers will be a 1 p.m. Eastern kickoff Sunday from Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, the start of a three-game homestand for the Steelers before their Week 11 bye. With that kind of an advantage in the upcoming schedule, Pittsburgh has a shot to put together a win streak to cut into the large divisional lead Cincinnati currently enjoys. CBS will have a regional broadcast of the Bengals-Steelers game.

Pittsburgh will enter the Bengals-Steelers game with a 4-3 record, and the team managed to win two of its four games played thus far without Roethlisberger in the starting lineup. Because of its 6-0 start, Cincinnati enjoys a 2 1/2 game lead in the AFC North, so a win in Sundays Bengals-Steelers game would put Cincinnati in a commanding position to try to win the division.

While Pittsburghs offense hasnt been awful without Roethlisberger, it certainly hasnt clicked at a high level either. In the 2 1/2 games Roethlisberger played before his injury, Pittsburgh scored 73 points. In the 4 1/2 games since, where the Steelers have used both Michael Vick and Landry Jones at quarterback, Pittsburgh has scored 85 points. Roethlisberger had two 300-yard passing games and was on his way to a third before the injury in Week 3 against the Rams. Vick and Jones combined to throw for 704 yards in their four starts.

Roethlisberger is questionable to start the Bengals-Steelers game, so hell have a chance to be recovered from his injury to the point where he can play. If he cannot play, Jones probably will make his third straight start.

Cincinnati meanwhile should be very healthy for the Bengals-Steelers game, as it had its bye week in Week 7. The Bengals are 3-0 in games decided by less than a touchdown, and the Cincinnati defense has not allowed more than 24 points in a game this season.

Pittsburgh leads the all-time Bengals-Steelers series, 56-34. These two divisional rivals have played twice in every season since 1970, other than the NFL strike shortened 1982 season. Pittsburgh has won 13 of the last 17 games in the Bengals-Steelers series, including three in a row.
