Saints - After picking off only 10 passes and allowing 54
completions of 20 plus yards in '07, the emphasis was on improving the defense.
The Saints signed defensive end Bobby McCray in free agency, they traded up to
#7 overall to draft USC's Sedrick Ellis. Veterans Johnathon Vilma and Dan Morgan
were added at linebacker plus cornerbacks Randell Guy and Aaron Glenn were also
added from free agency. Free Saints picks: week 2 vs Washington Redskins -
vs Vikings on ESPN week 5 - vs Chargers in London on week 8 - versus Green Bay
Packers on MNF in week 12 - vs Chicago Bears on the NFL Network on Thursday in
week 15.
Atlanta Falcons - The
Falcons picked Matt Ryan with the #3 draft pick hoping to get as lucky
as they did when they took Michael Vick at QB. Ryan is not as mobile as Vick, he
may not even be ready to start on opening day. It looks like the Falcons will be
relying on their defense to win games. Falcons free picks: vs Tampa Bay in week
2 - week 3 vs Kansas City Chiefs - week 9 versus Oakland Raiders - versus New
Orleans Saints in week 14.
Carolina Panthers -
All signs point to another run happy season with the two back system.
After loading up on guards Milford Brown, Toniu Fonoti and Keydrick Vincent in
free agency, they picked Oregon RB John Stewart with the 13th draft pick is
predicted to provide the power in the backfield with DeAngelo Williams providing
the speed. Panthers free picks: vs San Diego Chargers in week 1 - week 3 versus
Minnesota Vikings - week 8 vs Arizona Cardinals - vs the Bucs on Monday Night
Football in week 14 - week 15 vs Denver Broncos.
TB Buccaneers -
Defense always comes 1st in Tampa, so it was no surprise that the Bucs
ignored the need for offense in the NFL draft. The Bucs did add veteran RB
Warrick Dunn in free agency, but he is 33 years old and probably not much left
in the tank. At WR Joey Gallaway is close to retirement and Michael Clayton has
been a disappointment. Head coach Gruden is going to a 2 QB backfield and it
looks like Tampa will once again rely on its defense to win. Free Buccaneers
picks: week 3 versus Chicago Bears - vs Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night
Football in week 7 - week 8 vs Dallas Cowboys - vs Panthers on MNF in week
14.
