Ohio State - The Buckeye's are looking at another 11-1
season. They figure to lose at USC on September 13th. Then it will be up to the
pollsters and computers for the Bucks to be into a 3rd consecutive title game.
Not many teams in the Big 10 or the country have a better quarterback situation,
Todd Boeckman mentoring Terrelle Pryor. At running back Ohio State has heisman
candidate Chris "Beanie" Wells and on defense they have potential defensive
player of the year in James Laurinaitis.
Wisconsin - The Badgers have become one of the country's
most consistent programs winning at least 9 games in 7 of the past 10 years.
Wisconsin will be back to pounding their opponents with 1 of the best sets of
RB's in the country (P.J. Hill, Lance Smith and Zach Brown). If the QB can get
settled the defense should allow the Badgers to contend for the Big 10
title.
Illinois - Last season Ron Zook got the Illini to Pasadena
for the first time in 24 years. They are 1 of the few college football teams in
the country that runs a power running game out of the spread. We are picking
Illinois to have a better record then last seasons 9-4 mark and be sharp early
against Missouri + back to back road games at Penn State and Michigan.
Penn St - The Lions are strong where it counts. If the
quarterbacks learn quickly and the offense can be more productive we are
predicting Penn State to at least equal it's 9-4 record and return to a January
bowl.
Michigan - The Wolverines lost 6 players to the NFL draft
and have a gaping hole on offense. We are picking they will not finish above
.500 with games at Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State plus home dates against
Michigan State and Wisconsin.
Michigan State - The Spartens were in every game last year.
All 6 of their losses came a touchdown or less. A January 1st bowl game is not
out of the question.
Iowa - The Hawkeye's are without a proven running back and
have no competion at QB even after Jake Christensen's lackluster 2007. They have
no chance to be a contender in the Big Ten.
Purdue - Great things are possible with a Tiller at QB,
but there might be too many holes on the overall lineup.
Indiana - The Hoosiers' oppurtunity to post back to back
winning seasons will receive a huge boost if Kellen Lewis is allowed to return.
With him the offense will be better and the defense should take another step
forward. Indiana does not play Ohio State or Michigan plus they have 8 home
games.
Minnesota - Even though the Gophers won only 1 game last
season we are not predicting they will do any better in 2008.
Northwestern - Almost all of the Wildcats marquee players
are back. The offense has the potential to be prolific and the young defensive
talents creates optimism that the team will reach a bowl game for the 1st time
in 3 seasons.
